A2. Empathy is for life insurance beneficiaries and families who are grieving and need help during a time of loss. It’s there to support loved ones when they need it most.


Q3. What can Empathy help with?
A3. Empathy can help with both emotional and practical needs. This includes funeral planning, managing accounts, estate related tasks, and grief support. It provides clear next steps, so beneficiaries don’t feel overwhelmed.

Q4. Is Empathy part of the KINDTM benefit package also included in Equitable policies?
A4. No, Empathy is a separate app and web-based loss support benefit. The KIND program provides various financial supports to beneficiaries, including the Compassionate Advance, Snap Advance and Bereavement Counselling benefit. To learn more about the KIND benefit, click here.

A5. Empathy is included at no extra cost with all Equitable life insurance policies.


Q6. How do beneficiaries access their Empathy account?
A6. Once a claim is initiated, we will help them to register and connect to Empathy services online or through the mobile app.

Q7. How does Empathy support families in grief?

Empathy offers compassionate, personalized support and trusted grief resources. Families can move at their own pace, knowing someone is there to listen and help.

Q8. Does Empathy include human support or is it only digital?
A8. 
Yes. Empathy includes access to human support. A dedicated Care Manager from Empathy’s Care Team will guide the beneficiary to the support that they need.

Q9. What features are accessible through the Empathy mobile app2?

Empathy provides a personalized care plan, access to a dedicated Care Manager from Empathy’s Care Team, help with paperwork and accounts, and grief resources3.

Q10. Does the beneficiary have to use the Empathy Loss Support benefit when a claim is initiated? 
A10. No. The benefit is optional and available if and when beneficiaries choose to use it.
