In January 2027, clients will start seeing their investment costs displayed in a new, standardized format on their statements. This change is part of Total Cost Reporting (TCR), an industry-wide regulatory initiative from the Canadian Securities Administrators and the Canadian Council of Insurance Regulators.  


TCR will offer clients a more complete, standardized view of the total cost of investing, including: 


•    Previously embedded product-level costs 
•    Itemized product-level costs 
•    More personalized and detailed performance information  

While there are no new costs, clients may have questions when they see their costs displayed differently for the first time. To help you stay informed, Equitable® has launched the TCR hub on EquiNet. It’s your centralized, always-on resource for clear, concise, and continually updated guidance. 


What’s available on the TCR hub today

Throughout the year, tools, templates, and advisor-ready materials will be added to the hub. Today, you can access foundational tools, including:


•    Introductory video covering the what, when and why behind TCR
•    Client and advisor FAQs

Sample client statement featuring the new reporting requirements. The phased rollout ensures resources remain timely and relevant, giving you an evolving library of information aligned to advisor needs as the industry transitions.
