  1. Saving time with our fully digital group benefits application On May 1, 2023, we are launching Equitable BenefitsApply™, our fully digital group benefits application.

This enhancement to the benefits application process will help both you and your clients save time when applying for an Equitable Life group benefits policy. We designed and developed BenefitsApply with input and feedback from several advisors and clients, who tested the tool for themselves.

In most cases, BenefitsApply will replace our traditional paper implementation process.*

BenefitsApply eliminates the need for clients to complete and sign multiple, lengthy paper forms. Time-saving features for you and your clients include:
    • A fully digital online application that you can access wherever and whenever you need it,
    • Pre-filled standard fields,
    • Only one signature required from plan sponsors,
    • A smart application that only includes the sections relevant to the client and the plan design they have chosen, and
    • Automatic notifications of any missing fields.
Your Client Relationship Specialist is available to support you, provide a demo and provide training on how to use BenefitsApply.

We will continue improving BenefitsApply’s features based on feedback from the people who use it—you and your clients. We encourage you to share any feedback you have with your Group Account Executive or your Client Relationship Specialist.

*BenefitsApply is currently available for groups with up to four divisions and up to four classes. It is not available for myFlex Benefits plans, or for clients with a customized master application.
  2. AI – Not a replacement for good judgement

When it comes to AI, clients’ interests come first

Artificial intelligence, or AI, is changing how we work in Canada. It helps us do things faster, makes talking to others easier, and takes care of many daily tasks. As of mid-2025, studies show that more than 68% of Canadian financial firms — including about 15,000 advisors and 2,500 agencies — have already started using AI to stay ahead, reach clients, and handle routine tasks.1,2

For financial advisors, AI can be useful and exciting, as long as it’s used wisely and always with client privacy and regulatory compliance in mind.

AI can make your day-to-day work easier but use it with care:
    • Know the risks as well as the rewards
    • Remember, AI is a tool —it can’t replace your expertise and good judgement!
    • When using AI, always protect client privacy and follow the rules

AI is changing how we all work. To help you keep up, we encourage you to stay up to date with industry news and tips about AI. For example, the following recent news article has some helpful tips on using AI safely and effectively in your practice: Using artificial intelligence can pose risks for advisors

When you use AI, stay vigilant and informed, use your good judgement—and always put the client’s interests first.

  6. An important announcement about our Travel Assist provider Allianz Global Assistance, our Travel Assist emergency medical assistance provider, has informed us that it is exiting the Canadian group travel insurance market.

Allianz will continue to accept and support new claims up to June 30, 2023, and they will support ongoing claims until Dec. 31, 2023.

We are already meeting with potential new Travel Assist partners and plan to have a provider in place before June 30, 2023.

In the meantime, we are working closely with Allianz to help ensure a smooth and seamless transition for your clients and their plan members. Allianz is committed to maintaining its staff to meet and exceed service levels throughout the transition, as follows:

    Before July 1, 2023:
Allianz will continue to accept calls and open new claims up to June 30, 2023. Any claims opened on or prior to June 30, 2023, will continue to be processed by Allianz until Dec. 31, 2023.

    After July 1, 2023:
New cases will be directed to our new service provider. Allianz will work alongside us and our new provider to make this transition as simple as possible.

    After Dec. 31, 2023:
For any cases still open as of Dec. 31, 2023, Allianz will work with our new service provider to responsibly transfer these cases while ensuring a seamless client experience.

We will communicate this news next week to your clients who have Travel Assist coverage on their plan. And we will continue to communicate more details to you about this transition in the coming weeks.

If you have any questions, please contact your Group Account Executive or myFlex Sales Manager.
  7. Let’s “Talk Money”: Helping clients feel better about their finances This November is Financial Literacy Month, and the theme is simple but powerful: “Talk Money.” The goal is simple—get Canadians talking about money. When people open up about budgeting, debt, or financial stress, they feel more confident and less alone.

Money and mental health are connected
Many Canadians feel stressed about money. That stress can affect their mental health. As an advisor, you can help by starting honest conversations. When clients talk about their worries, they’re more likely to take action and feel better.

    How advisors can help
You don’t need to be a therapist. Just listen, ask questions, and offer simple steps. Here are a few ideas:

    Let’s talk money
Talking about money helps people feel stronger and more in control. This month, let’s help clients open up, take action, and build better habits—financially and emotionally.
