Cloud DX, Signs Contract with Heart Centre
Our partner, Cloud DX, has signed a 3-year contract with an Ontario hospital to help put patients with congestive heart failure at ease.
Cloud DX’s digital health platform works to improve healthcare delivery, provide better care outcomes, and lessen the burden on our national healthcare system. Now, an Ontario heart centre will use the Cloud DX platform to improve its patient monitoring services.
Cloud DX is a value-added service for Equitable Life’s Critical Illness claimants. Cloud DX delivers clinical grade hardware directly to the client so that they can remotely monitor the client’s vitals to help ensure they stay on the road to recovery*.

*Cloud DX is a non-contractual benefit and may be withdrawn or changed by Equitable Life® at any time. To be eligible for the Cloud DX offering, a claimant must be age 12 or older and have received payment on or after February 12, 2022 for a covered critical condition benefit under an individual critical illness insurance policy issued by Equitable Life. An early detection benefit payment does not qualify. Equitable Life pays for 6 months of Cloud DX subscription fees. If the claimant wishes to continue the Cloud DX service after 6 months, they will be responsible for the cost. The claimant must supply their own device to connect to Cloud DX app– a laptop, tablet or cellphone. As well, the claimant needs to supply their own data or internet service.

Protect clients and yourself from cyber attacks
Cyber criminals are targeting advisors’ computers and email accounts. They are targeting advisors because you have detailed financial information about clients. These attacks put you and clients at risk by exposing private financial data, allowing unauthorized withdrawal attempts, and easing identity theft. A breach can lead to financial loss and a damaged reputation.
How to stay safe:
• Use strong security: Turn on multi-factor authentication, change your passwords often, and make sure passwords are unique.
• Install antivirus or internet software: Use trusted programs such as Norton or McAfee to protect your computer.
• Keep everything updated: Make sure your computer’s operating system and software are up to date.
• Get expert help: Ask an IT professional to check your security system.
• Be careful online: Take cybersecurity training to learn about new threats. Don’t click on suspicious links, including from people you don’t know.
• Have cyber insurance: This can help protect you if something goes wrong. You can usually get it through your E&O provider.
Remember: Cyber criminals also target the public, including client email accounts. They may use a client’s email to send you requests that look real. Call clients to confirm emailed requests, especially if someone asks to withdraw money or change banking information.
Our clients trust you with their financial future. Do everything you can to keep their information safe. - Compliance Resources

Reminder: Beneficiary designations for children’s CI policies
When a critical illness (CI) insurance policy or rider is issued for a minor, it’s important to ensure beneficiary designations accurately reflect clients’ intentions. Without a beneficiary on file, or with a minor designated without a trustee, an approved claim may need to be paid to the court or the Public Trustee. This can cause delays at a time when families may urgently need access to support.
Help clients name a beneficiary on their juvenile critical illness policy today. This isn’t just a safeguard to avoid court or Public Trustee delays at claim time. It’s a reflection of your expertise and care.
