  1. Reminder: New 350 Life and CI Applications In early August, Equitable® updated the privacy and legal sections on some forms. This included the 350 Paper Application for Life and/or Critical Illness Insurance. This change was also applied on our websites and our online application EZComplete®. These changes are part of Bill 64. The Bill is about the protection of personal and private information in Quebec and took effect on September 1st, 2023.

Due to this change, we ask that all advisors use the latest version, dated May 2023, of the paper application.

For applications in Quebec, the latest version must be used.

For all regions outside Quebec, we are supporting a transition period from ‘old’ to ‘new’ applications until December 31st, 2023. After this date, we will no longer accept older versions of our Life and Critical Illness applications.

To make sure you are using the latest version of the application, check the date on the title page. It should say May 2023. See the image below:

  4. Is it time to revisit bonds?

You see the interest rate predictions and talk of inflation in the news every day. What should clients do? Is it time to consider bonds?

Join our webcast with Darcy Briggs, Senior Vice-President, Portfolio Manager, of the Franklin Canadian Core Plus Bond Fund, for insights on the impacts of interest rates and inflation movement on bond portfolios and how to navigate during this time of uncertainty.

Darcy and the team skillfully combine Canadian core bonds with non-core fixed income opportunities to create a solution that is built around a foundation of high-quality Canadian bonds. They opportunistically add “off benchmark” securities for added yield and diversification.

  6. Life changes and so do clients’ insurance needs We’ve enhanced our partial conversion option with Equitable Term Life Insurance

At Equitable®, we understand that as life changes, so do your clients’ insurance needs. That's why we're excited to introduce enhanced flexibility in our partial conversion feature with a term rider carryover.

    What’s changed?

    1.    Partial conversions are available for both term standalone plans and term riders. Previously, partial conversions were limited to term standalone plans only.

    2.    Clients can choose any term plan for the rider carryover, regardless of the original term plan: T10, T20, T30/65. Previously, the term rider carryover had to match the original term coverage plan type.

As always, the term rider is carried over at the client’s current age, with rates based on the conversion date.

As life evolves, count on Equitable to provide solutions that adapt with your clients.

Clients with eligible plans can now choose to make beneficiary changes directly online. It is another step in Equitable’s journey of enhancing the client experience.

    Which plans are eligible?

    Eligible

    • Individually owned plans with revocable beneficiary designations.
    • Plans with policy owners not living in Quebec.

    Not eligible
    • Plans with irrevocable or preferred beneficiaries.
    • Plans with policy owners living in Quebec.

Our previous process, using form (#671BCF), has not changed. It continues to be available for those who prefer that option.

Note: The new Digital Beneficiary Change Request is currently only available to clients. We will be launching an advisor online option soon. Going forward, we will not make self serve transactions available to clients ahead of advisors.
