COVID-19 testing: Find the information you need
This news item has also been posted to the plan administrator and plan member sections of EquitableHealth.ca
The Ontario government recently announced it has expanded access to COVID-19 testing to include select pharmacies throughout the province. As the pandemic continues, it’s important to know how to access testing if you’re experiencing signs and symptoms of COVID-19 or suspect you have been exposed to the virus.
Guidelines for who should get tested and how to access testing vary across the country, so it can be difficult to know what applies in your jurisdiction.
To help make it easier, we’ve provided links to COVID-19 testing resources for each province and territory. The resources include self assessments, guidelines for who should get tested, how to access testing, and testing locations.

Passkey: The fastest, safest way to log in to Client Access
We’ve upgraded the Client Access® portal to make access easier and more secure.
What’s new?
• Passkey: The easiest way to log in
Passkey is now available across all Equitable portals. With passkey, clients can log in quickly and securely using biometrics like face or fingerprint recognition, eliminating the need for passwords.
• Extra protection for email/password users
For clients who continue to use their email and password, extra security may be required. Clients may be prompted to enter a one-time passcode sent to their email, ensuring only authorized access.
What you need to know:
• Clients sign in to Client Access the same way you do on EquiNet, making it easier to support your clients.
• “Forgot email” is available to help clients recover the email they need to log in.
• Passkey setup is easy and safe. Just follow the prompts when you login. Watch the video to learn how to create a passkey. -
Enhancing the Transfer Process: Equitable's New Signature Guarantee Service
Equitable® is making transfers even easier with EZcomplete®.
This enhancement will help advisors and clients by reducing the number of rejections from other institutions that need a signature guarantee. Reducing transfer rejections means less time and effort for advisors, and faster transfers from other institutions.
Signature Guarantees
Equitable will now offer signature guarantees on most transfers requested through EZcomplete.
When is a signature guarantee not available?
• For entity owned accounts
• If a Power of Attorney is signing on behalf of an owner
• If the transferring account has an irrevocable beneficiary
Watch the quick Identity Check with Persona video or read through instructions below.

To offer a signature guarantee, Equitable first needs to check the identity of all owners using Persona, a third-party service provider.
The advisor starts by selecting a signature guarantee in EZcomplete. An email link is sent to all proposed owners.
Clients can click the link within the email to Persona's verification process.
They will be prompted to take a picture of their photo ID and a selfie, turning their head slightly left and right by following the prompts.
Their identity can then be confirmed in seconds.
Sending Transfer Forms:
• If all owners' identities are verified, Equitable will send the transfer form with a signature guarantee stamp and the e-signature audit log to the transferring institution.
• If ID verification fails, clients will be prompted to try up to three times. If still unsuccessful, the transfer form and e-signature audit log is sent to the transferring institution without the signature guarantee stamp.
Handling Issues:
• Advisors’ obligations to verify ID is not affected by this process; ID verification is still required.
• If the client times out or loses the email to access Persona, the advisor can resend the link.
• If the client’s name or email changes after ID verification, the advisor will need to redo the ID verification with the updated information to get a signature guarantee.
This update strives to make processes smoother and more efficient for everyone. Just another reason to do business with Equitable. When we work together, success is mutual.

5 topics to discuss with large case clients
Are you working with high-net-worth business owner clients? It’s important to ask the right questions to get them interested in learning how corporate-owned life insurance might benefit their situation.
Here are a few suggestions from our large case team:
1. Capital Dividend Account: Are you taking full advantage of your company’s Capital Dividend Account for your family?
2. Cash flow and surplus: Do you have surplus cash or cash flow in your corporation? Why is it there? If it is for tax deferral, would you like to make some or all of that deferral permanent?
3. Legacy: What do you want to happen to your business when you’re no longer there? How much of what you have built do you want to preserve for your family? How much will be preserved?
4. Shareholder’s agreement: Do you have a shareholder’s agreement? How is it funded? Does it deal with triggering events like death, disability, and retirement?
5. Worse-case scenarios: If you were not able to show up at your business for 3 months, and no one expected it, what would happen? What would creditors, customers, suppliers, and employees do?
Visit our large case webpage and watch Ask our Experts to learn more about the importance of careful planning when it comes to corporate policy ownership.

The value of Equitable Life’s EZcomplete online application for Pivotal Select
Necessity is the mother of invention. And COVID-19 has taken Equitable Life’s® EZcomplete® online application to the next level. Prior to the pandemic, EZcomplete was touted as being convenient and easy to use. Well, it is. But now…it is so much more.
Whether secure in an office or safe at home, EZcomplete’s non face-to-face capabilities include an alternative to physical verification. EZcomplete simply requires verification of ID using a third-party service provider. The third-party service provider completes the verification behind the scenes using information that was already required to complete an application. By removing the physical ID requirements, the ID verification process has been automated and simplified.
EZcomplete’s electronic signature functionality is also easy and secure. To enable a remote signature, your client just provides an e-mail address. Your client will receive a link and security code that you provide. The client enters the code, reviews the application and e-signs the documents.
Step by step directions ensure you have the right details without any confusing or unnecessary questions. Highlighted fields alert you to any missing information, eliminating any extra work or effort. The immediate processing also helps make it an attractive resource.
Whether selling segregated funds face to face or from the comfort of home, Equitable Life’s EZcomplete online application and Pivotal Select™ segregated fund line up provide the solution for even the most rattled and weary investor. Learn more, visit EquiNet or contact your Regional Investment Sales Manager.

Individual insurance communications at Equitable are changing
Out with the old and in with the new … in phases. Less than one year after the launch of our bold brand redesign, we are refreshing Equitable® individual insurance client letter communications. This fresh approach to client communication delivers greater personalization that evolves with each client’s needs. Adopting a more inclusive and conversational tone means clients will stay well informed with clarity, so they can understand their insurance policies and the claims process better. Consistent communication across their insurance journey with Equitable reinforces how much we value their trust in us to support their financial needs.
Other notable changes you can expect to see over the next year include:
● Graphic icons
● Scannable content
