Equitable Life's RSP Contest: Grand prize winners celebrate a future filled with possibilities!
The Savings & Retirement team at Equitable Life recently celebrated the successful conclusion of their recent RSP contest with a special cheque presentation to Equitable Life client, Kavitaben Rathod, and her World Financial Group (WFG) advisor, Kinnari Patel, who were both thrilled to be selected as the grand prize winners.
The Grow Your Future contest ran from January 1 to March 1, 2023, and offered clients and advisors a chance to win big by making RSP contributions. It was a hit with clients like Kavitaben as it provided them with a compelling reason to work with their advisors to build their wealth. Clients who made a deposit into an Equitable Life RSP policy between January 1 and March 1, 2023, had the chance to win the $5,000 grand prize. When Kavitaben won the grand prize, her advisor Kinnari won $1,000 as well.
Alex Lucero, Regional Investment Sales Manager, Greater Toronto Area, met with both Kinnari and Kavitaben to present the cheque and took some photos to commemorate the occasion. The collaborative effort put in by the Equitable Life team was highly appreciated.
Kavitaben expressed her sincere gratitude, sharing how surprised, excited, and delighted she was to be chosen as the grand prize winner. She described the experience as “an amazing feeling and our best day in Canada! It was a really fortunate moment for me”.
Kinnari also expressed her appreciation to Equitable Life, Alex, and the entire WFG team for the proud moment and shared that the experience gave her “motivation and inspiration in her future work duties”.
Equitable Life's commitment to offering products, services, and choices that best suit clients' needs was evident through the contest. Clients saw contest messaging through social media and equitable.ca, while advisors saw it on the EquiNet advisor website, through emails, and MGA and WFG newsletters.Congratulations to everyone who supported the contest and helped make it a success!

GIA Coming to the Equitable FHSA
Many clients have already taken advantage of Equitable’s First Home Savings Account (FHSA), available on Pivotal Select™ Investment Class (75/75) and Pivotal Select Estate Class (75/100).
And now, we’ve got some more great news. We’re working to expand the Equitable® FHSA to include our Guaranteed Interest Account (GIA). But clients don’t need to wait to start earning tax-free income in a FHSA.
If clients want to open a FHSA now but may be interested in an Equitable GIA, simply choose the No-Load Equitable Money Market Fund Select investment option while we work on including the GIA on FHSA. The current yield to maturity is 5.41% gross.1
We will let you know when the GIA is available in FHSA in the coming months. Once it is available, advisors can speak to clients about the GIA options available in the FHSA and select what best suits their needs.
Don’t forget, clients who make a contribution to their FHSA, RRSP or TFSA between January 1 and February 29, 2024, could win $5,000 and you could win $1,000 in Equitable’s New Year’s Resolution, New Year’s Contribution Contest.2
For more information, please contact your Regional Investment Sales Manager.
1 As of January 16, 2024, 4.06% net after deducting the management expense ratio. Yield to Maturity: the market value weighted-average yield to maturity includes the coupon payments and any capital gain or loss that the investor will realize by holding the bonds to maturity.
2 Equitable’s New Year’s Resolution, New Year’s Contribution Contest: No purchase necessary. Contest period January 1, 2024, to February 29, 2024. Enter by making a deposit to an Equitable FHSA, TFSA or RRSP during the contest period or by submitting a no-purchase entry. One prize for a total value of $5,000 CAD to be drawn on March 8, 2024, will be awarded. The servicing advisor for the policy to which the selected entrant made the deposit is also an eligible winner and will receive a $1,000 CAD prize. For example, if an Equitable client is a winner of the $5,000 prize, the client’s servicing advisor wins a $1,000 prize. Open to legal residents of Canada of the age of majority. Odds of winning depend on number of eligible Entries received during the Contest Period. For full contest rules, including no-purchase method of entry, see the full contest rules.Posted January 17, 2024

Competitive GIA rates and more!
With many bond funds declining in value over the past year, clients are looking for fixed income alternatives to reduce portfolio risk while providing a principal guarantee and an attractive interest rate.
Equitable Life® Guaranteed Interest Account (GIA) investment options are ideal for clients who want to create an emergency fund or save for a special purchase. And we’ve recently increased interest rates to make our GIA options even more competitive!
A few reasons to consider Equitable Life for your GIA business:- The GIA advantage – a life insurance contract can provide many estate planning benefits.
- Industry-leading compensation – we currently pay 40bps of commission per year of term.1 Many competitors only offer 20 – 25bps per year of term.2
- Cashable option3 – allows clients to access their money in case of unexpected circumstances. Not many competitors offer this feature.2
- Advisor rate discretion – advisors can forego up to 40bps of commission for an equal increase in interest rate, making our great rates even better.
- Step Up Your Wealth Sales program – 100% of GIA net deposits4 are used to calculate the 0.75% bonus commission earned on net deposits for 2022.
- Win-Win – our GIAs allow you to give the client a better interest rate while still earning a good commission.

For more information, please contact your Equitable Life Regional Investment Sales Manager.
1 Equitable Life commission rates as at May 19, 2022.
2 Competitive information as at November 20, 2021; Equitable Life does not guarantee the accuracy of competitive information.
3 Withdrawals made prior to the maturity date will be subject to a market value adjustment and may be subject to tax.
4 All eligible deposits, sales, and redemptions occurring between January 1 and December 31, 2022, will be used to calculate an advisor’s 2022 net deposits.

● Other factors used to decide the dividend scale will remain the same.
● The interest rate for policies with dividends on deposit will change. It will go from 2.25% to 3.50% on July 1, 2024.
● The interest rate for most policy loans will remain at 6.50%. This applies to both new and existing policy loans, and automatic premium loans.
