  2. Show term and critical illness illustrations with ratings

Rating options are now available in term and critical illness web illustrations. When you add a rating, the premium changes so clients can see the difference. This makes it easier to compare options and set expectations early.

    What’s new
You can apply ratings to your term and critical illness web illustrations. When you choose a rating, the illustration and report update right away with the new premium.

    Benefits
       • Clear sidebyside comparisons
       • Illustrated options better fit client’s needs
       • Talk about options with more confidence

How to use the rating feature
      1. In the web illustration, go to Personal Information.
      2. Select the Ratings checkbox.
         • This option also appears when adding a term rider or critical illness rider.

      3. Choose the rating type you want to illustrate:
         • Permanent amount (term)
         • Permanent percentage (term and critical illness)
         • Temporary amount (term)
Once applied, the premium updates automatically and appears in the illustration report.

    Important to know
       • Illustrated ratings are for comparison purposes only.
       • When you submit an application, the system removes the illustrated rating.
       • The final rating is determined through underwriting.

Improving your experience with more digital enhancements
We’re always working to improve the web illustration experience based on your valued feedback.
Here are some improvements you've asked for:
       • A confirmation box appears showing the rider selected is included in the illustration report.
       • When you’re signed into EquiNet your name and advisor code are included at the bottom of the illustration report.
New design updates to the illustration reports now make it easier for you and clients to review. Use these clear and refreshed illustrations to help clients get the protection that best meets their needs.

  6. Like a summer breeze – Applying for LIFE insurance just got easier!

    What has changed?

A resting electrocardiogram (ECG) is no longer required for most LIFE cases.
    •    That’s right! We eliminated the resting ECG as a routine age/amount requirement for most life  insurance applicants.
    •    Of course, we may still request an ECG in certain cases at our underwriters’ discretion – for example, if the client has a history of diabetes or smoking.

    Why did we do this?

It’s simple – Equitable® is dedicated to continually enhancing the client and advisor experience. By eliminating the ECG step for routine applications, life insurance clients can obtain the coverage they need more quickly and with less effort.

    Updated resources coming soon!

The tools below are being updated shortly to reflect the above change:
    •    Our age/amount schedule for Life insurance products
    •    The underwriting requirements built into our illustration tool
    •    Our paramedical service providers’ ordering system

Until then, if you see an ECG as a listed requirement for your client in any of the above, there is no need for you to order the ECG unless we specifically ask for it.

  7. Flexibility for a client’s ever-changing life

Term life insurance offers full and partial conversion options to meet changing needs

Life is always changing—whether a client is buying their first home, welcoming a new baby, or sending the kids off to college. While most clients think of term life insurance as a solution to meet a temporary need, they don’t necessarily consider the power of term conversion options to meet their future needs.

Full and partial conversion options can help meet a client’s needs as their life journey and insurance needs change, without having to provide proof of continued good health.

    Full conversion:
    •    With full conversion, clients can convert all of their term coverage from their policy or rider to permanent life insurance. This allows the client to lock in a level premium rate for life.

    Partial conversion:
    •    With a partial conversion, clients can convert a portion of their term coverage from their policy or rider to a permanent plan. This allows them to help cover off both a short-term need and also provides lifetime protection.

    Did you know?
Our partial conversion with a term rider carryover is now more flexible than ever. Read more about it here!

  8. Savings & Retirement Policy and Procedure updates regarding Electronic Signatures We have updated our policies and procedures regarding electronic signatures in the Savings and Retirement department. We are now able to accept electronically signed documents, from all major third-party signing vendors.

Including esign@equitable.ca as a non-signing reviewer is the preferred method as it ensures the security embedded documents are accurately and immediately available for Equitable. We will be automatically notified when signing is complete and will download eSigned forms immediately for processing. Including esign@equitable.ca as a non-signing reviewer is secure, quick, and efficient. Documents no longer need to be emailed to us – eSigned documents are sent directly to us once all signatures are completed, therefore you do not need to notify us once the documents are signed.

When esign@equitable.ca is not used to submit electronically signed documents, the following criteria are required:
    • The original signed form and audit trail with all the security features intact
    • The email address used to sign must match what is in our files (as provided on the application, for electronic policy delivery or through previous communication). If an email address has changed, or we don’t have an email contact for the signer, we will follow up for confirmation.

A guide on how to use esign@equitable.ca can be found here.

Please note that Equitable does not accept digital signatures (images or fonts of a signature which are not stamped).

    Date posted: June 13, 2024
  9. Equitable Now Accepts eSignatures on all documents (Ind. Ins. & S&R)

View the Guide to completing eSignatures

    What are the benefits?
    ● It’s secure because you no longer need to upload or email documents to us.
    ● It also removes a step in the process for you -  we will get the eSigned documents directly once all signatures are completed and therefore you no longer need to notify us once the documents are signed.
    ● Your documents will be processed quickly and efficiently.

    How does this work?
    ● Including esign@equitable.ca as a non-signing reviewer is the preferred method as it ensures the security embedded documents are accurately and immediately available for Equitable. We will be automatically notified when signing is complete and will download eSigned forms immediately for processing.
    ● If not using esign@equitable.ca we require the original signed form and audit trail with all the security features intact.
    ● The email addresses used to sign must match what is in our file (as provided on the application, for electronic policy delivery or through previous communication). If an email address has changed, or we don’t have an email contact for the signer, we will follow up for confirmation.
    ● We will accept all eSigning Vendors that have the functionality to place the eSignature in the correct signature fields on all applicable documents. If the eSigning vendor does not have the functionality to do this, we cannot accept it.

  10. New “Update Payment” feature for banking changes has launched! Great news! Equitable® has launched a new self-serve "Update Payment" feature in Client Access and on EquiNet®. This new online process enables clients and advisors to easily submit key banking change requests for eligible insurance policies*, with no need to complete a physical form.

    What’s new?

A new "Update Payment" feature is now available on Client Access and on EquiNet under Policy Inquiry. It allows clients (and advisors) to easily submit requests for the following three transactions online:

    1.  STOP pre-authorized payments.

    2.  RESUME pre-authorized payments on overdue accounts.

    3.  CHANGE which bank we withdraw money from.

The new "Update Payment" feature replaces the previous "Edit" button in Client Access. The old banking change options are still available in the client’s Profile section. They can be used to request a change to the payment withdrawal date, as that option is not yet available with the new Update Payment feature.

    How it works!

When a change is requested using the new Update Payment feature, our Operations team receives it online.  They will review and process the changes within three business days, as per Equitable’s current service standards.

The Update Payment feature in Client Access is a self-serve process. However, if a client prefers, their advisor or an Equitable Customer Service associate can assist them by submitting the request on their behalf. Clients will be asked to sign to approve any such requests that are submitted by someone other than the owner of the policy.

*The Update Payment transactions are only available for eligible policies: those that have not lapsed, are not on Automatic Premium Loan, and are not owned by a corporation or other entity.

We trust that these digital enhancements will help make the client and advisor experience even simpler and more efficient.
