  1. See how choosing Equimax Participating Whole Life can help Raj plan for his family’s future
Raj wants to buy life insurance. He has wealth he’s grown over the years. He wants it to go to his family. He likes what participating whole life has to offer.

By choosing an Equimax participating whole life insurance policy with Equitable Life, Raj gets permanent insurance coverage with tax-advantaged cash growth. His policy can also earn annual dividend payments.

He learns about how his premiums go into a participating account and are invested. Some of that investment can come back to him as dividends.

With Equitable Life, dividends are shared only with participating policyholders. This makes Equimax Participating Whole Life an easy choice for Raj.

  3. Making it easier to claim for Loss of Independent Existence for EquiLiving Critical Illness insuranc We have recently changed the definition of Loss of Independent Existence (LOIE). As a result, the Critical Illness claim criteria has also changed. Before, EquiLiving® Critical Illness insurance coverage was issued with a definition of LOIE that required clients to have the total inability to do 3 of 6 Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Now, clients will only need to give us proof of the total inability to do 2 of 6 Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to submit a claim for LOIE.

This change makes it easier for clients to claim for this covered critical illness. This change is retroactive to February 2022.

Clients will be sent a notice from us with a personalized endorsement from Equitable Life. This applies to their policy and forms part of their contract. We will approve claims for LOIE as outlined in the endorsement.

LOIE is one of the 26 conditions named as a covered critical illness in an EquiLiving policy or Critical Illness insurance rider on an Equitable Life insurance policy. With a loss of independent existence, some activities of daily living can no longer be done on one’s own. This can happen because of a disease or an injury.

  7. Did you miss our Equimax update in December?
Equimax – a better and stronger solution!

    Discover the latest Equimax updates

Great news! We’ve made further updates to our Equimax® insurance solution to better serve clients.

Here are some of the changes:

    ● A new guaranteed 10 pay premium option for Equimax Wealth Accumulator®
    ● You can now add an Excelerator deposit option (EDO) on Equimax Estate Builder® and Wealth Accumulator plans with a 10 Pay premium option (term rider not required at issue of the policy).
    ● We increased our flexibility with EDO. This will make it easier for clients to stop and start EDO contributions without losing their maximum approved contribution room. On top of that, these changes will apply to all inforce policies. A single set of EDO rules will apply to every Equimax policy whether it’s issued tomorrow or 10 years ago, making it simpler to help clients manage their policies.
    ● We increased the maximum amount of Equimax coverage that can be applied for without a special quote from $20M to $25M.

Equimax is now an even better and stronger solution. For a full breakdown of these product updates visit our splash page.

  10. Important cybersecurity readiness guidance As an advisor, you collect and store clients’ sensitive personal information. Protecting this information is essential. In July 2023, the Canadian Insurance Services Regulatory Organization (CISRO) released a guide on Cybersecurity Readiness. It includes tips on keeping this sensitive client data and your business systems safe.

Please read the guide in full. Also, check your own practices to be cyber ready and reduce your risk of an incident.

Some key tips in the guide include:

    1. Make cybersecurity a priority: Stay alert to cyber threats. These can be suspicious emails, texts or calls. Make sure your team knows how to keep your data and systems safe and has clear, documented processes to follow.

    2. Know what to protect: Understand what data and business systems need to be protected.

    3. Identify the risks: Spot the risks in your practice and those from third-party service providers.

    4. Implement security measures: Take steps to protect your data and business systems.

    5. Be ready to respond: Know how to spot and react to cyber incidents. The guide has useful tips on creating a Cyber Incident Response Plan.

And lastly – if you receive client instructions electronically (by email, text, or messaging apps), always confirm these over the phone to ensure it’s really the client sending the instructions.

Keep your business and important client data safe by staying informed and alert. We encourage you to read the full  Cybersecurity Readiness document to learn more about how to prepare for cyber threats.

In our industry, protecting clients’ sensitive data and systems is essential. Thank you for your commitment to cybersecurity!
